Dear Fellow-NBBCers,
Today, September 11, 2025, is the anniversary of the awful 9/11 atrocities 24 years ago that exposed the evil within radical Islam. We remember the thousands who died in those senseless attacks, and their families whose lives were forever changed. Popular media has numbed us to the presence of evil, but when it is revealed in all its ugliness, we hate it.
We saw it again yesterday. Charlie Kirk, our brother in Christ, an advocate for truth, justice, life, and faith, was assassinated in Utah. Our nation’s history has seen this evil before: Presidents (Lincoln, Kennedy) and other leaders (Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King) were killed, and others (Ford, Reagan, and Trump) narrowly escaped assassination attempts.
The presence of evil does not surprise Bible-believing Christians. Until Christ returns, this world is wrapped in evil: Satan is “the god of this world” (2 Cor. 4.4); “the whole world lies in the power of the evil one” (1 John 4.19). He is a liar and murderer (John 8.44). He spreads misery (sexual immorality, gender confusion, human trafficking) and death (abortion, euthanasia, murder).
Sadly, many Americans have no moral compass. Within minutes of Charlie Kirk being shot, members of the media, online influencers, and college students expressed callous disregard for this atrocity, even justifying it. A governor (Illinois) blamed Trump (who was himself the subject of two assassination attempts a year ago) for it!
Some who have assassinated the character of Charlie Kirk issued statements condemning his murder, but their words ring hollow. If you incite violence with your words, you cannot vindicate yourself by condemning the violence you inspired. Another governor (Minnesota) recently bemoaned the fact that reports of Trump’s death were false. This embracing of evil is tragic, but it is also a sign of the times (read 2 Thess. 2.1-12 and 2 Tim. 3.1-7!).
Charlie Kirk is with Jesus, who he publicly confessed and unashamedly proclaimed, but our hearts ache for his wife and two children. We are justifiably angry at those who promote evil. Let’s honor his memory by resisting the devil (see James 4.7) and standing for Truth. The solution to evil isn’t education, counseling, or political reform: It is faith in Jesus Christ. This alone transforms a person — even a murderer into a missionary (see the Apostle Paul)!
Tell someone today about your faith in Jesus. And later this month, get trained and join others sharing the gospel at the Comal County Fair. Let’s change our world, one life at a time!
