It seems that as I grew up I was told from some that it was what was on the inside that counted. Others would say that it was all about how we looked on the outside. It was a confusing time and still can be today. But what if what occurs on the inside affects what is seen on the outside. What if we stopped covering up our hurts, feelings, desires, joy on the inside with superficiality on the outside?

Colossians 1:13-29

New cars, new jobs, and new relationships – we as a society enjoy things that are new! Even if it is something old but new to us, it’s still exciting! Some of us have been Christians for a long time. Some of us are new to this whole relationship with God thing. God speaks to both groups and everyone in between in the book of Colossians. God shows us through the apostle Paul in this letter to see five new things about Christ and our relationship with Him.

Philippians 1:27-2:16

New babies being born; death of Osama Bin Laden; graduating high school and college; Steve Jobs; getting that long awaited job; Elizabeth Taylor; the uprisings in Libya, Egypt, and Tunisia; Hurricane Irene; 10th anniversary of 9/11; and the Tsunami that struck Japan. These are just a few of the events that we want to hold on to and others that we would want to let go of. That’s what happens at the end and beginning of a New Year, we hold on to some and let go of others.
