To Reach the World, Part 2 - The Power - Acts 1:8

God has a plan to reach the world: Us! We saw it last week. He has sent disciples into the world to make other disciples! Jesus gave special power to His disciples when He was on earth, but when He was leaving, He told of a new power. It’s for us…today!

Power from where? The Holy Spirit

· Historical Reference: The Spirit has come!

· Biblical Evidence: The Spirit gave power!

· Practical Necessity: Depend on the Spirit!

- for victory over sin (Rom 8)
- for clarity and boldness (see Matt 10:18; Eph 6:20; Col 4:4)
- for supplying your needs (Phil 1:19)

Power for what? To Be Witnesses!

· What’s in a word? Greek: martus (μάρτυς) → “martyr”

· An option? Or a command? (See Acts 4:20, 10:42!)

· Where do we start? Where do we go?

“You will receive power… and you shall be My witnesses…”
