When Cornelius got saved (Acts 10), his experience was like ours today. When he believed, he received three blessings: Eternal life, forgiveness of sins, and the gift of the Holy Spirit. This morning we encounter the very different salvation experience of Saul!
Saul’s Conversion: The Light Shines Too Bright to Miss!
· One event, three accounts: Acts 91-20; 2212-16; 2614-18)
· Saul, like Cornelius, a very religious man
· Saul, unlike Cornelius, not seeking for truth (but he found it!)
Questions from the Conversion of Saul
Q: How and when was Saul saved?
A: The moment he believed in Jesus on the Damascus Road!
Lesson: Even a bad man may trust in Christ and be saved.
Q: When did Saul receive the forgiveness of sins?
A: Three days later – when he was baptized!
Lesson: Eternal life is not the same as the forgiveness of sins.
Q: Can a person be saved without forgiveness of sins?
A: Yes: Unforgiven sin breaks our fellowship with God.
Lesson: When we sin, we should confess our sins to God.
Q: What does it feel like to live out of fellowship with God?
A: Like Saul experienced – blind, unfed, unuseful
Lesson: Living with unconfessed sin isn’t worth it!
Q: Am I enjoying the ideal experience of salvation life?
