Jude may have shared a name with the disciple
who betrayed Jesus, but he stood strong against
those who distorted His message! This little
letter sounds a warning for today, and calls us
to contend for the faith and show God’s love.

Introduction to the Letter of Jude
· From: Jude – half-brother of Jesus and brother of James.
· To: Christians in the first century church.
· Purpose: To warn against false teachers in the church!

The Warning of Jude: People who embrace immoral lifestyles and deny the deity of Christ have infiltrated the church, and arrogantly lure others to follow; God will judge them, and is able to keep us from falling if we obediently follow Christ.

Things to Learn from Jude
· The “ungodly” promote bad doctrine and living
o They misuse God’s grace to endorse immoral living (4b)
o They put on a great show, but have no substance (12b-13)
o They deny Jesus as God – and therefore as Master (4c)
o They are arrogant and don’t respect authority (8-10,11c,16)
o They are proud, flattering, and divisive (8-10,11a,12a,16-19)
o They follow their lusts – for sex and money (11b,12,16,18)

· God knows how to judge them – and He will! (5-7,11,13b,14-15)

· Our job: Contend for the truth, and rescue others (3, 20-23)

· Praise God! He is able to keep you from stumbling! (24-25)

“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling…”
Jude 24
